Hey, the header is has a double-meaning, since this post is both insights into where to find and interact with me at Gen Con this weekend, and also part of what I’m doing there!
I’m honored to be speaking at the Gen Con Insights program this year, alongside Tanya DePasse. This year’s theme is “Diversity by Design” and you can either come and see me in person, if you’re at the convention, or watch the video online when Gen Con makes it available.
In addition, you can find me most mornings at the Green Ronin Publishing booth (929) where you can get brand new copies of the Mutants & Masterminds Deluxe Gamemaster’s Guide, Mutants & Masterminds Superteam Handbook, Fantasy AGE Campaign Builder’s Guide, and the all-new Threefold setting for Modern AGE. I wrote material in each of them and I’m excited for folks to see them! You can also get Aaron Rosenberg’s new M&M novel Height of the Storm from Nisaba Press and other Green Ronin swag.
I plan on taking part in seminars like Queering Your Campaign (from Tabletop Gaymers and Qd3) and Green Ronin’s All AGEs Panel, talking about AGE System games like The Expanse! Speaking of which, if you haven’t picked up a copy of The Expanse RPG, you can check it out at the show.
In and around that, I hope to find some time to walk the show floor and check out all of the new and exciting games (I particularly want to drop by Catalyst Game Labs to see how my old friend Shadowrun is doing in its new sixth edition) and maybe pick up a thing or two for my home games. Who knows? I might even find time to play a game!
As always, folks can follow me on Twitter at @SKenson. That’s where I’m most likely to post up-to-the-minute happenings at the show. I look forward to seeing a lot of folks there!

Beyond Affinity, a German language publisher, is currently running a Kickstarter for a German-language edition of Icons Superpowered Roleplaying. This would be the first time Icons would be published in German (following French, Spanish, and Portuguese editions) and one of the first German-language superhero RPGs in some time, according to the publisher.
If you are a German-speaker, or know someone who is would might be interested, please spread the word about the Kickstarter or help to back it! Even if you are not a German-speaker but want to support Icons (and superhero RPGs in general) in other languages, you can still donate to the Kickstarter, if you feel so moved. Note that the higher tiers are offering original character art by various artists, including Icons line artist Dan Houser!
I recorded an episode of the BAMF! podcast recently where we talked about the German edition of Icons along with other upcoming projects. Visit their site for the show when it is available to hear all about it!
RPG industry author Alejandro Melchor suffered a stroke on March 25th, 2019, and was rushed to Angeles del Pedregal Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Contributions to this fundraiser will go to help Alex and his family deal with the considerable medical expenses and assist in his recovery. Donors receive over $350 in electronic RPG product as a thank you for their donation!
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Alex for many years on projects like Mecha & Manga, Out of the Abyss, Modern AGE, and Trinity Continuum: Aberrant and hope that we can support him and his family at this time of need.
Additional donations and support are welcome, via PayPal to email@example.com or at the Scotiabank account number 5579-2091-0083-9130, both under the name of Adriana Melchor Lombardo, Alejandro’s sister.

Here in crime for the holidays…
Sure, the holiday season is a time of giving, but what about…taking? Join the gigantic glamazon Size Queen and her criminal crew, including the thermo-couple of Fire & Ice and the goofy Gumball for a holiday heist of humongous proportions! Of course, even glitzy Las Riqueza gets an unexpected surprise when those ill-gotten golden gains turn out to be arcane forces from the ancient world!
In this fun holiday adventure for Icons Superpowered Roleplaying, your players get a chance to see how “the other half” lives, by playing the villains! (Or you can play heroes undercover to infiltrate and do good regardless, if you must.) Can our n’er-do-wells finally do some good? Find out in Size Queen’s Humongous Holiday Heist!
Sometimes, I wish I had the power to help, to answer the call of “save me!” in a real and tangible way. Still, I try to do what I can with what I do have, which includes publishing and imagination.
The ongoing pogrom against LGBTQ people, particularly queer men, in Chechnya has filled me with deep sadness and anger, as has the tepid response of the American government. As much as I would like to be the hero who can swoop in and save people—my people—in desperate need, the best I can do for now is to imagine that hero, breathe life into him, and ask for fellow gamers and superhero fans to donate in order to get to know him better.
So, I give you…The Champion! Chosen by the Aristos Eremenos, bearer of the Four Golden Gifts, protector of the people. All profits from the sales of this short pay-what-you-want PDF will be donated to the Rainbow Railroad, a nonprofit dedicated to doing the real heroic work: Getting people in danger out of harm’s way and to somewhere they can be safe. With persecution of LGBTQ people on the rise around the world, not just in Chechnya, their life-saving work is more important than ever. Whether or not you include the Champion in your heroic universe, please consider offering them your support. Be a hero, because the world needs more. Thank you.
Battle Beneath the Earth … in the Gladiator Pits of Gorn!
A one-man earthquake threatens a local dam, but the heroes are in for a far stranger conflict than they can imagine.
Tremors lead to their abduction deep beneath the earth into the realm of the Molten Men, where they are case into the Gladiator Pits of Gorm! Can the heroes survive the challenges of Molten Men warriors, magma beasts, and more and overcome the magics of the shaman Emberglass to challenge the cruel General Gorn himself? Their freedom, and the future of the Underworld, stands in the balance.
Written and illustrated by Dan Houser, this adventure for Icons Superpowered Roleplaying is suitable for any group of heroes and a great sequel to The Terror of Tiki Pterodactyl adventure. Available now on DriveThruRPG!
